In the end my Tom Hardy portrait sold for £113 for the homeless charity FLACK. Thanks to Kirsten and Wes at Flack who organized the auction on e-bay and helped promote it through their contacts.
Well, I'm starting the New Year with a lot of new artwork to draw. I've started drawing a Star Wars piece and I'm designing a tattoo based on the Japanese animation of Studio Ghibli. When I've got those two out of the way, I'm moving on to another Tom Hardy drawing and a Superman piece based on the new film Man Of Steel. All of these I'm really excited about and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into them. I've just finished inking the Studio Ghibli tattoo and Im about to start to colour it.

I recently finished drawing my portrait of the great British actor Tom Hardy. He's one of my favourite actors along side Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Johnny Depp and Ryan Gosling to name a few. He can play so many different type of roles and manages to change his look and personality for each one. I wanted to demonstrate this in my artwork. So I picked my favourite roles of his and set about designing a composition that would be interesting but also work together as one whole piece of artwork rather than a few images stuck together. After sketching a few thumbnail drawings I settled on one and got to work on it straight away. I started with the main image of him looking straight towards the viewer then worked clockwise from their. I didn't want to rush this, so I took my time with each character making sure I caught their personality in my drawing as much as I could. Bane was the most fun to draw and probably the hardest too, due to the intricate way his mask is put together. I love the Dark Knight trilogy so I wanted to make sure this came out right. All through this process I was posting my progress on various websites such as Facebook and I was getting a huge response with great feedback. This started me thinking that perhaps I should do something different with it when I've finished it rather than just sell it. Shortly after this, I had the idea that I would put it up for auction and the person with the highest bid could have the original piece of artwork. I posted this on one of the many Tom Hardy fan sites that are out there and one person suggested that I should auction it off for the homeless charity FLACK which Tom Hardy is a Patron of. I thought this was a great idea and I would also be helping out a great cause. So I contacted Flack, sent them the artwork and they've put it up for auction on E-Bay. So help spread the word and follow the link below to place a bid and help raise loads of cash for a great charity! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160931947336. www.flackcambridge.org.uk |
